"There has been an unrelenting distortion (fake news) of my activities and policies concerning Russia. Any Russian related meetings, or even conversations, that I have had in the last few years have been characterized as sinister and reason for serious concern. What has not been included in those stories by the left-wing partisan media cartel is that I am the chairman of the Congressional committee with specific responsibility for the oversight of American and Russian relations. As such, I meet with a wide variety of people with various approaches to America's relations with Russia. While I have tried to find areas of cooperation, like defeating radical Islam, every decision I have made has been based on what's good for and in the best interests of the United States. Suggestions otherwise are based on either ignorance or politics."
"Republican leader Kevin McCarthy’s failed attempt at humor aside, I have never made any money whatsoever or any profit from Russia or from my advocacies related to Russian related policies. Reporting Kevin’s little comment as serious is just another disingenuous fake news attempt to divert attention away from the real Russian collusion story: The sale of a significant portion of our nation's Uranium supply in exchange for contributions to the Clinton foundation and inflated speaking fees to Bill Clinton."
